Senior 1B Cam Walter
Clifton, VA - Centreville senior first baseman Cam Walter committed last month to play on a full football scholarship at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, the Wildcats football and baseball programs are proud to announce.
The 6-foot-4, 218-pound Walter completed 118-of-218 passes for 1,660 yards and seven touchdowns and ran for six more scores in earning second-team all-Concorde District honors for a Wildcats team that went 3-7 under head coach Gerry Pannoni last fall. A tw0-year starter under center, the senior battled through several injuries - including torn labrums in both shoulders - over the past two years to finish with over 3,000 passing yards.
Walter will enter his fourth varsity season this spring under head baseball coach Morgan Spencer and is expected to be one of the area’s top defensive first basemen and a threat in the middle of the Wildcats’ lineup after missing the last 17 games of the 2009 season when forced to the sideline following a surgery on his right shoulder.
