Varsity Head Coach: Morgan Spencer, Fourth Year

Spencer is entering his fourth season as the head varsity baseball coach at Centreville High School … Compiled an overall record of 23-42 in his first three seasons, including a 10-13 mark last spring that included the program’s first berth in the Northern Region tournament since 2004 and a first-round upset win over top-seeded McLean  … Will field a team in 2010 that returns 13 lettermen and was picked fifth in the preseason region coaches poll …  Has been instrumental in the development of Wildcats’  pitchers, including: Ryan Barefoot, who is now pitching  at the Virginia Military Institute; Mickey Bozek, who is  now a pitcher at the United States Military Academy at  West Point (Army);  senior left-hander Ryan Ashooh, who has signed with the University of Virginia; senior left-hander Connor Bach, who has signed with VMI; senior right-hander Chris Campell, who has signed with Mount Saint Mary’s University; and senior right-hander JT Hampel … Prior  to taking the reigns of the Wildcats’ program, Spencer  served as an assistant under Mark “Pudge” Gjormand for  four seasons at Madison High, leading the Warhawks’  junior varsity team to a 37-5 record and three straight Liberty District championships in his three seasons as  the head junior varsity coach … Works as a hitting and pitching instructor throughout the year at MVP Baseball in Merrifield and as a director with Greater Vienna Sports Camps during the summer months … Also has  coached with the Vienna Mustangs and MVP Tigers travel teams, and the last two summers has coached with America’s  Team International, a team comprised mostly of local high school players, at tournaments in Germany and the Dominican Republic …  Prior to getting into coaching, Spencer was a three-time all-conference pitcher at Greenville (Ill.) College, earning  all-region and Christian College All-American honors in 2001 and 2002 … At Greenville, he set school records for  career strikeouts and holds the single-season and career record for pick-offs … In high school, Spencer helped  Madison High win the Liberty District title in 1997 and earned all-district honors as a junior in 1997 and a senior  in 1998, and was an all-Northern Region selection following his senior season … Is in his second year working as  a sports marketing teacher at Centreville after serving in the same capacity for four years at Madison … Resides in Reston.

Varsity Assistant Coach: John Giannelli, Sixth Year

Giannelli is entering his sixth season with the Wildcats’ varsity team, having also served as an assistant under former head coach Jonathan Frohm for two seasons … Serves as the team’s third base coach when the team is at bat and works with the Wildcats’ pitchers… Also coaches football at Centreville and has coached youth basketball, baseball and football for the past 12 years … Was named the Fairfax County Youth Basketball Coach of the Year in 2006 … Is the owner and general manager of the Fairfax Sportsplex, Inc., in Springfield … Was a three-sport athlete in high school in Waterbury, CT, and at Post University in Connecticut … Has three children, Ryan Fischer, Andy Fischer and Alex Giannelli … Resides with his children and his wife, Sharon, in Centreville.

Varsity Assistant Coach: Joey Kamide, Third Year

Kamide is entering his third season as a coach with the Wildcats’ varsity team … Serves as the team’s first base coach when Centreville is at bat … Came to the program after serving for three seasons as an assistant under Mark “Pudge” Gjormand at Madison, helping the Warhawks compile a 53-16 record and win two Liberty District championships … Serves as a hitting instructor at the MVP Baseball School in Fairfax … Previously coached with the Vienna Mustangs, MVP Tigers and Great Falls Nationals travel teams and served as a player/manager with the Herndon Dawgs of the Industrial League of Northern Virginia for five years … In high school, helped Herndon High repeat as Concorde District and Northern Region champions in 1996 … Attended George Mason University … Worked in sports media for 10 years and remains involved in the field as a commentator for high school football and basketball for Fairfax Sports Network and as a freelance sports writer for the Associated Press … Currently owns a small business, Kamide Sports Media, that produces media guides as a fundraising program for youth and high school sports programs … Resides in Reston.

Varsity Assistant Coach: Chris Stanton, Third Year

Stanton is entering his third season as a coach with the Wildcats’ baseball program, his second as a varsity assistant … Served as the co-head coach of the junior varsity team in 2008 … Will serve as the middle infielders coach this spring … Prior to returning to his alma mater to coach, played at Virginia Tech, where he was a two-time All-Big East selection, and for two seasons in the San Francisco Giants’ system after being drafted in the 43rd round of the 2005 MLB Amateur Draft … A 2001 graduate of Centreville, he earned three letters in baseball and two in football … Was a two-time All-Concorde District and All-Northern Region selection at shortstop and as a senior helped lead the Wildcats to the region final … Was a member of Centreville’s Division 6 state championship football team in 2000 … Currently works for Uniglobal Pension Planning, Inc., in Manassas … Resides with his wife, Tasha, in Fairfax.

Varsity Assistant Coach: Allan Wimmer, First Year

Wimmer is entering his first season as a coach with the Wildcats’ varsity team … Will serve as the team’s hitting and outfielders coach … Coached many of the team’s players last summer and fall before joining the staff this spring … Previously coached for one year at Madison under Mark “Pudge” Gjormand between stints playing college baseball at the Virginia Military Institute and Tennessee Wesleyan College, where he graduated from last spring … As a senior last year, hit .374 with 13 home runs and 69 RBI, which ranked 23rd nationally among NAIA Division I players … A 2002 graduate of Madison, where he was a first-team all-state outfielder and helped the Warhawks to a perfect, 29-0 season and Group AAA state championship as a senior … Currently owns his own general contracting company based out of Northern Virginia … Resides in Vienna.

Varsity Assistant Coach: Rich Ferrick, First Year

Ferrick is entering his first season as a coach with the Wildcats’ varsity team … Will serve as the team’s catchers coach and will also work with the pitchers … Previously coached high school softball for 27 years, including 13 as the head softball coach at Centreville prior to retiring last year … Also has coached high school football for 27 years and youth baseball for 12 years … Was an assistant on the Wildcats’ softball team that won the state championship in 1995 and the football team that won the state title in 2000 … During his tenure as the school’s head softball coach, led Centreville to six Concorde District titles, the 2000 Northern Region championship and a 233-81 overall record … Is in his 25th year as a teacher with Fairfax County Public Schools, his 20th at Centreville … Graduated in 1981 from Annandale High School, where he was a three-sport athlete, and in 1985 from George Mason University … Daughter, Jessica, is a freshman softball player at Marshall University in Huntington, W.V. … Also has two sons, Mitch, a sophomore on the junior varsity team, and Joe, a seventh grader at Liberty Middle School … Resides in Centreville with his wife, Tricia, and his children.
